INSTITUTIONAL SUPPORT FOR MODEL EUROPEAN UNION 2011

Model European Union has been a widely supported project for four years now. Institutions, influential people, decision-makers, stakeholders, academics and politicians have always enthusiastically supported MEU for its quality and learning objectives.

One of our biggest supporters, Miss Lenka Andrýsová, decided to make a video message to support this edition of MEU. Miss Andrýsová currently serves as a Member of Parliament of the Czech Republic and is Vice-chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee.

Model European Union reaches its 5th edition

Following the success of Model European Union 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010, this simulation of European politics will take place again in 2011 in the European Parliament in Strasbourg: As always it promises a great place, a great atmosphere and interesting and motivated people.

During the last edition of MEU, 180 participants, chosen with care from a total of 700 applicants had the chance for one week to take up the roles of Ministers of the Council, Members of the European Parliament, Journalists, Lobbyists or Interpreters, while discussing two ambiguous law proposals: the Returns' Directive and a regulation on Genetically Modified Organisms.

Happy Europe Day!

On the 9th of May 1950, Robert Schuman presented his proposal on the creation of an organised Europe. This proposal, known as the "Schuman declaration", is considered to be the beginning of the creation of what is now the European Union.

We, the organization of Model European Union, want to celebrate this day and wish you all a happy Europe Day!

Charle Magne national prize and acknowledgements

Did you know that Model European Union has won the Charlemagne national prize for Portugal? Moreover, on May 11th 2010, a European jury consisting of three MEPs and the President of the European Parliament, together with four representatives of the Foundation of the International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen, will select the winner from the 27 projects submitted by national juries.
